ATTENDING AN APPOINTMENT

CONTACT LENS REMOVAL BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:

Please do not wear your soft contact lenses for 3 days prior to your appointment. If you wear hard contact lenses please do not wear them for 3 weeks before your appointment. Measurements of the curvature of your cornea can be affected by contact lenses, so to give us the most accurate tests of your eyes contact lenses must be left out. If you have worn your contact lenses or do not have an alternative and you would like to know if you are suitable, you can still have an appointment to be assessed for suitability and to discuss options, but you will have to attend another appointment to do accurate measurements.

INFORMATION TO BRING WITH YOU:
EYE RELATED INFORMATION:

Please bring whatever information you have about your eyes, especially your glasses, or a paper record of the prescription from your optometrist, your contact lens prescription or the package. Any records of eye conditions or treatments you have had will also be helpful. If you have previously had surgery to do away with glasses, please bring any information about your treatment or prescription before the treatment that you can find.

GENERAL HEALTH INFORMATION:

Please bring a list of any medications and the dosage you are taking and tell us if you have a pacemaker.

TRAVEL TO & PARKING FOR THE APPOINTMENT:

Free, off road parking is available on the forecourt of the Westbourne Centre. Parking is available across the road from Space Healthcare in a Warwick district Council multistorey car park. Please arrange for someone to pick you up from the clinic or to accompany you, or leave by taxi or public transport. You are likely to have drops in your eyes which blur your vision and it is unsafe to drive for the rest of the day afterwards. If you have no alternative but to drive, please advise us before drops are put in your eyes and in this case we may ask you to attend a second appointment.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE DAY?

A number of tests will be done involving taking images of your eyes (OCT, wavefront scans and topographic scans). Measurements of the dimensions of your eyes and the focus error will be taken. You will meet Mark Wevill and discuss whether you are suitable and the options. Drops will be placed in your eyes to enlarge your pupils which will blur your vision slightly and it will not be safe to drive for the rest of the day. Please bring some sunglasses with you as the drops will make you sensitive to bright light and allow up to 2 hours for your appointment.
